Deliverance From Poverty
Deliverance From Poverty
Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear Him, On those who hope in His mercy, To deliver their soul from death, And to keep them alive in famine.
Psalm 33:18–19
David gives us permission to pray for deliverance from poverty and need. This psalm talks about being kept alive in times of deprivation. God loves to deliver His people from that condition. We are always aware of those who are struggling materially and wonder how they are going to make it. God can deliver them from it.
I talk with Christian people all the time who are in the midst of great need. I always ask them, “Have you asked God pointedly, naming the details of this situation, to help you and deliver you from it?” They have often prayed in generalities, but not in specifics.
My friend, when you are in the lions’ den, you need to pray about the lion—by name!
