Short-term Missions Trips

Short-term Missions Trips

So Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you.”

John 20:21

William Carey is often called the father of modern missions. The number of his accomplishments in India was almost equaled by the number of obstacles he overcame to get there. He was told by a group of English ministers, “If God wants to save the heathen, young man, He will do it without your help or ours.”

When he developed a burden for the lost in India, William Carey was not a career missionary. He was a young Englishman in poor health with a pregnant wife and small children underfoot. That is, he was a lot like the average Christian today—just trying to make ends meet and keep life together. But he also had something else, a burning question he could not escape: “Who will reach the lost if I don’t go?” He ultimately became a career missionary, but he started by saying yes to God.

From high schoolers to retirees, Christians today are discovering the blessing of sharing the Gospel and doing good works in other lands. Take a short-term missions trip, and see how God can change your life.

A career missionary is nothing more than a short-term missionary who keeps saying yes to God.
