Today Is The Day

Today Is The Day

For this cause everyone who is godly shall pray to You In a time when You may be found.

Psalm 32:6

A German farmer settled in Guatemala and became prosperous. While sailing back to Germany to visit family, he discovered that a tropical flea had taken up residence under a toenail and laid its eggs. Instead of dealing with the painful problem then and there, he let the toe fester so his family could see the foreign insect. By the time he got to Germany, blood poisoning had set in and the farmer died.

The farmer made a faulty assumption: that he had plenty of tomorrows in which to make a life-or-death decision. We are not guaranteed any set number of days on this earth, as the apostle James wrote: “[Life is] a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away” (4:14).

Every person faces a life-or-death decision, spiritually speaking, and many put it off indefinitely. They think there will be plenty of time to consider God’s place in their life: “I want to be saved, just not right now.” Do you see the faulty assumption in that statement? None of us is guaranteed tomorrow. If you have been putting off a spiritual decision, make it today.

Today is the day of salvation for all who don’t know what tomorrow holds.
