He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

—Psalm 23:2

DIVINE GUIDANCE IS A SUBJECT as old as the Bible. There is nothing more important to the Christian.

The Bible has made the way of divine guidance so simple that only fools make a mistake in it. Only when we get wise in our own conceits, in our own experiences, or in listening to our own convictions, do we go astray spiritually.

Psalm 23 tells us that “the LORD is my shepherd.” He leads us in the right way. It is the way that leads out into the green pastures, beside the still waters, and among the glorious hills of God.

God puts despair along any way that does not lead to Him. Discouragement arises from following self-love, and from nothing else. We get discouraged because we do not get our way.

Isaiah 42:4 tells us that the Lord “shall not fail nor be discouraged,” and neither should His saints. For God will always be our Guide!

Prayer Thought: Heavenly Father, be my Guide. Lead me. Take complete control.
