Obedience: The Secret Of Pleasing God

Obedience: The Secret Of Pleasing God

Only let us live up to what we have already attained.

Philippians 3:16

What we are today is more important to Christ than what we were yesterday or what we will become tomorrow. The personal walk with Christ is intensely now; it is very immediate.

Jesus said, “If you love me, obey me.” In other words, “If you want to demonstrate to Me in a tangible way that I am pre-eminent in you, then live up to the Truth you have already received. Anyone can say they love Me, but the one who lives up to what they have already attained pleases God. And that doesn’t happen yesterday or tomorrow—it happens in the now.”

O God, if I could live up to just ten pages of your holy Word, I would be overjoyed. Why do I yearn and strive for more knowledge of You when I don’t make a full effort to obey the knowledge with which You have already entrusted me?

It would not matter which ten pages; read any ten pages from the Book and do them. In the moment “we live up to what we have already attained,” our spirit rests, confident that we are pleasing God.

I SURRENDER

Father, help me live up to what I have already attained. Amen.
