Faith - Divine Moments for Leaders
Faith
MY QUESTION for GOD
How does my faith affect the way I lead?
A MOMENT with GOD
The Lord had said to Abram, “Leave your native country.” . . . So Abram departed as the Lord had instructed.
Genesis 12:1, 4
Elisha prayed, “O Lord, open his eyes and let him see!” The Lord opened the young man’s eyes, and when he looked up, he saw that the hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire.
2 Kings 6:17
Whenever the cloud lifted from over the sacred tent, the people of Israel would break camp and follow it. And wherever the cloud settled, the people of Israel would set up camp.
Numbers 9:17
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Faith is more than just believing; it is staking our very lives on what we believe. For example, we may believe that someone can walk across a deep gorge on a tightrope. But are we willing to trust that person to carry us? If you had faith, you would say yes. Faith in God means that we are willing to trust him with our very lives. We are willing to follow his guidelines for living, as outlined in the Bible, because we have the conviction that this is best for us. We are even willing to endure ridicule and persecution for our faith because we are so sure that God is who he says he is and will keep his promises about salvation and eternal life in heaven. Faith in God means he is our leader. Then when we are put into a leadership position, we must fight the temptation to be the final authority. We must not lead as though everything were depending on us or forget that we trust God to do the leading. Like a muscle, faith gets stronger the more you exercise it. Exercise your faith when you lead, or you may miss out on the exciting places God wants to take you.
DIVINE PROMISE
WHEN YOUR FAITH REMAINS STRONG THROUGH MANY TRIALS, IT WILL BRING YOU MUCH PRAISE AND GLORY AND HONOR ON THE DAY WHEN JESUS CHRIST IS REVEALED TO THE WHOLE WORLD. 1 Peter 1:7
