How should I deal with boredom?

The dictionary defines boredom as being weary with tedious dullness. It might come from doing the same thing over and over or doing work with no apparent purpose or doing nothing for too long. Many people with hectic schedules say, “I’d love to be bored for a while.” But there’s a difference between boredom and rest. We all need rest, but we don’t need boredom. Boredom is dangerous because it signifies lack of purpose and passion for anything meaningful. The antidote to boredom is finding something purposeful and significant to do. God has a purpose for you, and finding that purpose is a divine moment. From that time on, you will never be bored! Start by volunteering in a ministry at your local church, or find a hobby that helps you develop a skill. Then you will have something to look forward to each day. The fire of passionate living will ignite in your heart, and other people will be attracted to your enthusiasm.
