MY QUESTION for GOD

What does it mean to fear God?

A MOMENT with GOD

Doesn’t his majesty terrify you? Doesn’t your fear of him overwhelm you?

Job 13:11

Let the whole world fear the Lord, and let everyone stand in awe of him.

Psalm 33:8

Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom.

Proverbs 9:10

Fearing God is not the same as being afraid of him. If you are afraid of God, you will stay away from him. But fearing God means being awed by his power and goodness. This draws you closer to him and the blessings he gives. Fear of God is like the respect you have for a beloved teacher, coach, parent, or mentor. Your respect motivates you both to do your best and to avoid doing anything that would offend or hurt that person. You fear God because of his awesome power; you love God for the way he blesses you.

Serve the Lord with reverent fear, and rejoice with trembling.

Psalm 2:11

How joyful are those who fear the Lord—all who follow his ways!

Psalm 128:1

Because God is so great and mighty, and because he holds the power of life and death in his hands, you should have a healthy, reverent fear of him. When you have a healthy fear of God, you recognize what he could do if he gave you what you deserve. A healthy fear should drive you to God for forgiveness. You can also rejoice that instead of punishment, God gives you mercy and forgiveness. He even desires to have a relationship with you.

DIVINE PROMISE

Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.
