Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.

You must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your Christian hope, always be ready to explain it. But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. Then if people speak against you, they will be ashamed when they see what a good life you live because you belong to Christ.

1 Peter 3:15-16

God’s influence in your life can be very attractive to others. The more you reflect God’s loving character, the more people will be drawn to you. Practically, this may mean just being a friendly neighbor, volunteering to serve the needy in your community, being a responsible citizen, making peace with difficult people, or treating others with fairness and respect. Through these simple actions you can be an attractive example of God’s love to people in your community. With God’s power, your character can become a beacon of light that brightens the whole community with God’s transforming ways. Although you will sometimes make mistakes, live so your neighbors can say, “We can plainly see that God is with you.”

Divine Promise

[Jesus said,] “You are the light of the world. . . . No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.
