Desires

My Question for God

How can I know if my own desires match God’s desires for me?

A Moment with God

[David] sent someone to find out who she was, and he was told, “She is Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam and the wife of Uriah the Hittite.” Then David sent messengers to get her.

2 Samuel 11:3-4

Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable.

Philippians 4:8

David’s selfish desires overpowered his reason. His desire for Bathsheba caused him to commit adultery and to have her husband murdered, which resulted in much grief for his family. When you are wondering whether what you desire is right or wrong, consider the long-term consequences. Is the object of your desire good, consistent with God’s Word, and harmless to others? When you’ve answered that question, you’ll know which choice to make.

Divine Promise
