What does it mean to be a person of integrity?

A Moment with God

The LORD rewarded me for doing right. He has seen my innocence. To the faithful you show yourself faithful; to those with integrity you show integrity.

Psalm 18:24-25

[The Lord said,] “I will bring that group through the fire and make them pure. I will refine them like silver and purify them like gold. They will call on my name, and I will answer them. I will say, ‘These are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The LORD is our God.’”

Zechariah 13:9

If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.

Luke 16:10

Integrity is essentially the unity between your character and the character of God. This union results in greater purity of heart, mind, and actions, and reflects the heart, mind, and actions of God. But integrity isn’t something you can achieve instantly; developing it is a process. Just as fire is necessary to refine gold, the heat of pressure and troubles refines your integrity. Every day is a refining process that tests how pure you are becoming. If in your testing, God finds your heart and actions becoming increasingly like his in purity, then you are living more and more in union with God and are growing in integrity. Like the psalmist, don’t boast in this accomplishment, but thank God for giving you the power, privilege, and direction to live according to God’s ways.
