How can I cultivate intimate relationships?

A Moment with God

“When that day comes,” says the LORD, “you will call me ‘my husband’ instead of ‘my master.’ . . . I will make you my wife forever, showing you righteousness and justice, unfailing love and compassion. I will be faithful to you and make you mine, and you will finally know me as the LORD.”

Hosea 2:16, 19-20

Being connected heart to heart, mind to mind, and soul to soul—this is intimacy. Relational intimacy, where two people become soul mates, allows you to openly share all your burdens, fears, and joys with each other. Physical intimacy is reserved for marriage, where a man and woman, through their physical relationship, reach new heights of vulnerability that allow them to communicate at the most profound level. And above all, there is intimacy with God, where you learn about the very heart of God. God is the source of love, the only One who could create you with the ability to love. Therefore, no one knows as much about love as God does. Intimacy with God means experiencing his love to the fullest and returning that love to him. As you do this, intimacy in all your other relationships takes on new and greater meaning.
