Respect

Respect

My Questions for God

Where can I find a little respect these days? What does God say about getting respect?

A Moment with God

I pressed further, “What you are doing is not right!”

Nehemiah 5:9

Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant.

Matthew 20:26

[Jesus] must become greater and greater, and I must become less and less.

John 3:30

The keys to respect may not be what you expect. Respect comes from serving rather than from being served. Respect comes from taking responsibility for your actions instead of trying to save face in front of others. Respect comes from speaking up when things are wrong instead of blending in with the group. Respect comes from building others up instead of trying to make yourself look good.

The world teaches you to look beautiful at all costs and to act confidently even when you’re scared, to speak with irreverence, and to live by what’s best for you. In the end, these self-centered practices will bring only dishonor in the eyes of your peers. True respect is reserved for people who consistently practice kindness, live with integrity, and are motivated by a deep love for others. The more you reflect the character of God, the more you will become the kind of woman who truly earns respect.
