Deeply Loved
Deeply Loved
You keep track of all my sorrows.
You have collected all my tears in your bottle.
You have recorded each one in your book.
Psalm 56:8 nlt
Pause
The song, “Jesus Loves Me,” was a childhood favorite, and I still enjoy it. Its simplicity calms my fear: “Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so …”
Having experienced several crises in my sixty-some years, I understand a few gems about God’s love. While I cannot begin to grasp its depth, I know it’s not a general, sweeping brushstroke of concern for the planet’s population. It’s not a one-size-fits-every-heart. His love for you and me is intimate and custom designed for our personality and needs.
God’s love is so personal that he’s aware of every tear we cry, even those we stifle. There’s no sorrow or disappointment we can hide from him, nor should we try. He knows our hurts and our pain, and he wants us to trust him with those things.
Is sorrow weighing you down? Tell God how you feel. He wants you to talk with him. He desires your presence and trust. Confide in him, my friend. His love for you runs deeper than words can express.
Ponder
Reflect on the simple yet profound truth that God loves you intimately.
Pray
Father, thank you for letting me cry on your strong shoulder.
“God’s love isn’t based on me. It’s simply placed on me. And it’s the place from which I should live … loved.”
