This Day

This Day

The Lord is good,
A strength and stronghold in the day of trouble;
He knows [He recognizes, cares for, and understands fully] those who take refuge and trust in Him.

Nahum 1:7 amp

Pause

The border closure between the United States and Canada during the pandemic separated us from our daughter and her husband. They bought their first home during that time. We hoped to help them move, but we saw no signs that the border would open. We all wondered, “How long is this going to last?”

Maybe you’re wondering the same thing. Know that this day of trouble is exactly that—a day. Every day ends at exactly the right time. Don’t fret about the past or worry about the future. Keep your focus on today. Look for evidences of God’s presence and goodness. Trust him to be your strength until he brings the sun to set on your situation.

God knows where you are and everything about you. He knows your tears, your fears, desires, and concerns. You’re on his mind and in his heart today, all day, every day.

Ponder

The day of trouble is only a day and will end when God ordains. In the meantime, think of some evidence of God’s presence you’ve witnessed today.

Pray

Lord, thank you for caring for me through this day that seems endless.

“God is the God of ‘right now.’ He doesn’t want you sitting around regretting yesterday. Nor does He want you wringing your hands and worrying about the future. He wants you focusing on what He is saying to you and putting in front of you ... right now.”
