Scars Wherever God leads, I pray that you will not be ashamed of your scars but reveal the truth of God’s healing, redeeming, restoring power in your life. Your scars are beautiful to God. When you heal from personal pain, past abuse, ongoing health challenges, children in rebellion, the results of your own sin, or any other devastating suffering, your wounds eventually turn into scars. Those scars remind you of what the journey cost you and how you can use your experiences to help others. Sometimes you carry emotional scars, and other times they are physical. If your suffering comes at the hands of fellow Christians or family members, the wounds are especially painful. The scar that is left marks a time when your life changed forever—and it is a reminder of what you learned. After the Resurrection, when My Son appeared to His disciples, they didn’t know who He was until they saw His scars. Jesus said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe” (John 20:27, NIV). The apostle Paul said, “I bear on my body the scars that show I belong to Jesus” (Galatians 6:17). Like Paul, allow your scars to be a powerful testimony to your relationship with Me. Satan wants your scars to immobilize you. I want your scars to point people to Me. He personally carried our sins in his body on the cross so that we can be dead to sin and live for what is right. By his wounds you are healed. 1 Peter 2:24
