God Is Good And Wants Good Things For You - In the Evening When I Rest
God Is Good And Wants Good Things For You
Lord, how can I trust that you are good?
I am good to everyone. I shower compassion on all my creation. Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to you from me, who created all the lights in the heavens. Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient I am with you? Give thanks to me, for I am good! My faithful love endures forever. Taste and see that I am good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in me!
Psalm 145:9; James 1:17; Romans 2:4; 1 Chronicles 16:34; Psalm 34:8
How can I picture your Good News, Jesus?
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd sacrifices his life for the sheep. I know my own sheep, and they know me, just as my Father knows me and I know him. So I sacrifice my life for the sheep. Yes, I am the gate. Those who come in through me will be saved. They will come and go freely and will find good pastures. The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.
John 10:11-15; John 10:9-10
What can I pray when I need to be reminded of your goodness?
How great is the goodness you have stored up for those who fear you. You lavish it on those who come to you for protection, blessing them before the watching world.
Psalm 31:19
When you truly love someone, you want only good for them. You give them good things. How much more does God, the giver of all good things, want to lavish his love upon you? Take a moment to prayerfully reflect on these two questions: When have you experienced God’s goodness in your life? How might your days look different if you believed that God, who is absolutely good, desires good things for you?
