Love God. Love Others. That’s All.
Lord, I long to find community. Do you desire this for me too?
My great desire is that you will keep on loving others as long as life lasts. For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other. Share each other’s burdens, and in this way obey the law of Christ.

Can I build strong friendships with nonbelievers?
Matthew invited me and my disciples to his home as dinner guests, along with many tax collectors and other disreputable sinners. When the Pharisees saw this, they asked my disciples, “Why does your teacher eat with such scum?” When I heard this, I said, “Healthy people don’t need a doctor—sick people do. For I have come to call not those who think they are righteous, but those who know they are sinners.” For I was reconciling the world to myself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. This is the wonderful message I have given you to tell others.

May you grant my heart’s desires and make all my plans succeed.

Searching for community can feel lonely, discouraging, and uncomfortable. Real community takes time and effort. But remember: Each interaction could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Pray tonight for God to place you in a godly, encouraging, gracious, authentic, life-giving, and loving community. Trust God to reward your efforts as you pursue fellowship.
