Pleasing The Boss

Pleasing the Boss

Have you ever thought about how you might approach your job differently if the Lord were your boss?

When I was a player with the Pittsburgh Steelers, we were blessed to have not only men who were great players on our team, but also men with a strong faith in Christ, who tried to do everything to honor and glorify God. To them, He was their ultimate Coach. And things were different within our team as a result.

I wonder what would happen if we began to think that way about our work. I suspect our passion for what we were doing would change drastically if we felt God was in charge.

But wait! God is already our boss! He is the one we ultimately should be answering to each day. He is the one who has given us the gifts, abilities, and talents to use at work, at home, and in other settings. He is the voice of encouragement in our lives. And He offers direction and guidance through His Word and through others. How awesome is that?

His Promises

Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

Colossians 3:23-24

Lazy people want much but get little,

but those who work hard will prosper.

Proverbs 13:4

May the Lord our God show us his approval

and make our efforts successful.

Yes, make our efforts successful!

Psalm 90:17
