Starting Over On Monday
Starting Over on Monday
Every Monday morning during the season, most teams in the NFL do the same thing—they begin to plan for the next game. Sunday’s game may have been a big win or a crushing loss, but teams don’t have time to continue a celebration or wallow in disappointment. Another game is coming soon.
Our lives are a lot like that. We win big victories, make huge mistakes, experience deep joys, and suffer crippling disappointments. Whatever the case, we have to look forward.
That can be especially difficult when things aren’t going well, and we have worries about our relationships, our kids, our finances, our dreams, or much more. People and circumstances let us down. But God doesn’t, and He is sovereign over all of it.
When we begin the “Monday mornings” of our lives with a focus on God’s game plan rather than our own, we’ll be much more effective. We can look back over situations we have come through and learn from our mistakes, but there’s never a need to dwell on them. And we can look toward the future and plan, but we can never control what happens. If we walk with God, following however He leads, we’ll always be headed in the right direction.
His Promises
I know the LORD is always with me.
I will not be shaken, for he is right beside me.
No wonder my heart is glad, and I rejoice.
My body rests in safety.
For you will not leave my soul among the dead
or allow your holy one to rot in the grave.
You will show me the way of life,
granting me the joy of your presence
and the pleasures of living with you forever.
Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom.
Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.
Then you will have healing for your body
and strength for your bones.
He has given me a new song to sing,
a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see what he has done and be amazed.
They will put their trust in the LORD.
