Magnificent Prayer #103
Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God.
They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
Psalm 20:7–8
How shall we pray? In our Lord’s day men often stood to pray…When we are holding adoring and loving communion with the Lord God Almighty, it seems appropriate either to kneel or to stand reverently before Him. Especially do I urge a commitment of oneself to God the very first thing in the morning. It is a real help just to stand before our adorable Lord in the stillness of that early hour and say—at the very least—“Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.”

As regards praying aloud, I rarely allow myself to pray silently in secret. I find the wanderings of the mind very much limited and controlled by even the faintest audible vocalizing of my thoughts.
As regards to attitude, I seldom venture to kneel at prayer in secret. At night it leads almost invariably, and very speedily to sleeping on my knees, and even in the morning, my concentration of mind and heart are usually quickened by a reverent standing before the visible Lord and Master, or by walking up and down either indoors or, as I love to do when possible, in the open air.

Pray About It: We may be used to kneeling in prayer or perhaps just sitting in a chair or at a desk, but standing in prayer is a position used often in the Bible.
Of course God hears us in any position, but sometimes it helps to stand as we pray—or even to pace a bit. Today, as you pray, start in any position you wish, but at some point stand up, look up, and offer your prayers to God.
Stand before Him in awe.
