Prayer has been hedged about with too many man-made rules. I am convinced that God has intended prayer to be as simple and natural and as constant a part of our spiritual life as the intercourse between a child and his parent in the home. And as a large part of that intercourse between parent and child is simply asking and receiving, just so it is with us and our heavenly Parent.

Pray About It: Have you subconsciously allowed your prayer life to become subject to man-made rules or traditions that may seem to enhance spirituality, but which, in reality, are empty gestures toward God?
To learn prayer is to learn simplicity. We should no more complicate our communication with God with rituals than we would demand formality from our children when they want to be in our lap.
Your heavenly Father is waiting for your prayer today. Talk to Him as if He is simply the best and most wonderful daddy there ever was.
And you’ll be right.
Stop! Pause! Consider! Where are we? What are we doing?…Praying to God! The great God, the Maker of all worlds, the Judge of all men! What reverence! What simplicity! What sincerity! What truth in the inward parts is demanded! How real we must be! How hearty! Prayer to God the noblest exercise, the loftiest effort of man, the most real thing!
