Magnificent Prayer #234
For this reason I kneel before the Father.
Ephesians 3:14
Pray distinctly. Pray upon your knees. One grows tired sometimes of the free thought which is yet perfectly true, that a man can pray anywhere and anyhow. But men have found it good to make the whole system pray. Kneel down, and the very bending of these obstinate and unused knees of yours will make the soul kneel down in the humility in which it can be exalted in the sight of God.

Pray About It: Kneeling has become the traditional pose for prayer. The prophet Daniel knelt as he prayed, as did many other great pray-ers of the faith. William Newell said that kneeling is a good way to pray, precisely because it’s uncomfortable (it’s hard to fall asleep on one’s knees). Of course we can pray in any position, but today we will kneel, if physically possible. The bending of the knees to God is a picture of our broken strength. It signifies surrender, as do uplifted hands. Pray distinctly to God today. And do so with surrender in your heart and in your knees. Then drink from the great fountain of God.
Is there any place in any of our rooms where there is a little bit of carpet worn white from our knees?
