Magnificent Prayer #253
On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.
2 Corinthians 1:10–11
We must not yield to the idea that, because we are feeble members, doing no great work, our prayers won’t make much difference. It may be that this is the very reason why the Lord keeps us in the shade, because he hath need of us for the work of intercession…
See how wonderfully Paul valued the prayer of others. He distinctly expresses this to every church but one to whom he wrote. Would he have asked their prayers so fervently if he thought it would not make much difference?

Pray About It: When we look around at the ministries that God has truly blessed, they all have one thing in common: They were born and sustained through the prayers of supporters. And for some ministries, when the prayers ceased and human efforts began, God removed His blessing.
If God has called us to work for Him in the shadows of the prayer closet and has given the higher profile work to others, let’s receive our prayer work with joy. If the truth be known, the work of the intercessor is the most important work of all. It’s a high calling, not a second-class assignment.
Today, thank God for calling you to the ministry of intercession. And intercede robustly for your prayer list.
Blessed Lord! I come now to accept this my calling. For this I would forsake all and follow Thee. Into Thy hands I would believingly yield my whole being: form, train, inspire me to be the one of Thy prayer-legion, wrestlers who watch and strive in prayer, Israels, God’s princes, who have power and prevail.
Take possession of my heart, and fill it with the one desire for the glory of God in the ingathering, and sanctification, and union of those whom the Father hath given Thee.
Take my mind and let this be my study and my wisdom, to know when prayer can bring a blessing.
Take me wholly and fit me as a priest ever to stand before God and to bless in His Name.
