Magnificent Prayer #294

I…have need of nothing.

THE LAODICEAN CHURCH, Revelation 3:17 KJV

Those who use prayer as a mere form have no real sense of want. They pray by habit or ritual. Why should God hear them? They do not feel that they need him. They are not so burdened with their wants as to be driven to prayer for them.

We must reflect upon our condition and circumstances until we realize our need, and fall on our knees in earnest prayer, as having something really to ask.

JOHN PATON

Pray About It: In what areas do you feel no need for God to move? Are you financially secure? Is there always food on the table? Is your health good? Job secure? Marriage strong?

If there’s any area that you take for granted, God wants you to reflect again. He must be your source for all. Not just the areas where the need is obvious, but perhaps more especially in the places where there is no perceivable lack.

Thank God today for the areas where He has blessed. Refuse to take them for granted. Surrender them back to Him. And then ask God to reveal your true needs today. Finally, thank God for the privilege of prayer. Never take that for granted.

Oh Lord, when I pray, let me feel it to be a privilege, not an exercise or duty.
