Magnificent Prayer #296

Magnificent Prayer #296

Lord, all my desire is before thee.

Psalm 38:9 KJV

Oh let us see that prayer in sympathy with God is more vital than any other thing! For God can only work in matters for which His children have shown sympathy. He refuses to work in areas where there are no prayers and where His people’s will is not united with His will. Prayer with joined wills is real prayer. The highest motive of prayer is not in having it answered. It is to join man’s will with God’s so that He may be able to work.

WATCHMAN NEE

Pray About It: The benefit of prayer is that it puts us in sympathy with God Himself. We come to love what He loves and hate what He hates. In so doing, we understand how to pray according to His will.

As you pray, ask yourself: Is this in sympathy with the mind of God? Or is this at odds with what God wants to do?

To pray is to desire. But it is to desire what God would have us desire. He who desires not from the bottom of his heart, offers a deceitful prayer.
