Magnificent Prayer #70
Magnificent Prayer #70
Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; His greatness no one can fathom.
Psalm 145:3 KJV
Little do we know how we wrong ourselves by shutting out of our prayers the praises of God or allowing them so narrow a room as we usually do. Let praises have a larger place in your duties. Consider the excellencies and goodness of the Lord as often as you do your needs, your unworthiness and the mercies that God has given you.
RICHARD BAXTER
Pray About It: Today isn’t a day for asking. God knows what you need. Right now, take a few minutes and simply offer praise to Him for who He is, not for what He does for you.
At first it may seem difficult not to start asking God to do this or that, but resist the urge for today. Stay on course and confine your words to those of praise and worship. Throughout the day, every time you find yourself asking God for something, stop and turn the request into praise instead. You may be surprised at the results.
Jehovah, the one God, should be the one object of adoration. To give the least particle of His honor to another is shameful treason; to refuse to render it to Him is heartless robbery.
