Magnificent Prayer #87
Magnificent Prayer #87
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
John 15:7
Believer, abide in Christ, for there is the school of prayer—mighty, effectual, answer-bringing prayer. Abide in Him, and you shall learn what to so many is a mystery: That the secret of the prayer of faith is the life of faith—the life that abides in Christ alone.
ANDREW MURRAY
Pray About It: The picture Jesus gave to us describing how to abide was that of a vine and a branch. The latter has no life in itself. Its life is dependent on the vine upon which it feeds. So too the believer has no life in himself, but must feed on Christ. In Him is the power for prayer. The kind of power that brings answers.
Today as you pray, remember to abide in Him.
It is as though He were to say, “Children, I am leaving you: There are many things I desire for you, many commands to utter, many cautions, many lessons; but I am content to leave all unsaid, if only you will remember this one all-inclusive bidding—Abide in Me, remain in Me; stay where God has put you; deepen, emphasize, intensify the union already existing between you and Me. From me is your fruit found. Without Me you can do nothing. Abide in Me, and I in you. Grow up into Me in all things, which am the Head; rooted and built in Me, and established by your faith, even as you were taught.”
