Mom Heart Moments #65
The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night reveals knowledge.
LIVING MOST OF MY LIFE within sight of some part of the Rocky Mountains has established a lifelong love of the high mountain terrain. Spring wildflowers begin with blues and purples, move to reds and whites as summer heats up, and finally end in fall with a flourish of yellows and golds. Stars sparkling in the night sky above our home at 7,300 feet altitude call us to linger long in the evenings, stretched out on blankets, cuddling in the cool night air, and listening quietly to God’s voice speaking to us in the overwhelming velvet sky. Shimmering crystal snow blankets our pines and wild grasses in the winter, reminding us of the purity and holiness of our God and His transcendent loveliness.
Even as God’s beauty calls out to us in what He has created, beauty in our homes lifts the spirits of all who live or visit there. There is great joy in creating something for the table that pleases the eyes, delights the creative juices, and satisfies our created longing for aesthetic pleasure.
Why does beauty matter? Because our Creator cared enough to fill His world with color, form, design, sound, and tastes that would reflect a part of His personality as well as His skill as an artist —and because He created us humans both to respond to that beauty with pleasure and to find joy in our own creations. When we strive to bring beauty into our lives and our homes, we reflect the nature of the One who made us. Beauty and creativity are the melodies that wrap around our souls and sing to us of His amazing, infinite life.
How might you bring some of God’s amazing outside beauty inside your own home today?
