“I myself will help you,” declares the LORD.

Isaiah 41:14

This morning may each of us hear the Lord Jesus speak to us, saying,” ‘I myself will help you.’ It’s a small thing for Me, as your God, to help you in your time of need, especially when you consider what I’ve done for you already. What! Not help you? I bought you with My blood. What! Not help you? I died for you, and if I’ve already done what is greater, will I now not do what is less? Help you? This is the very least I will ever do for you, for I have done much more for you in the past and will do much more for you in the future.

“Before the world began I chose you and made the covenant for you. I set My glory aside and became a man for you, and then I laid down My life for you. If I did all this, surely I will help you now. In helping you now, however, I’m only giving you what I’ve already bought for you. If you needed a thousand times more help, I would give it to you, for you require very little compared with what I am ready to give.

“Your need seems great to you, but it is nothing for me to bestow on you. Help you? Fear not! If you had a mere ant at the door of your granary asking for help, it wouldn’t bankrupt you to give him a handful of your wheat. And yet, in comparison, you are not even a tiny insect when you stand at the door of My all-sufficiency. ‘I myself will help you.’”

“O my soul” (Ps. 103:1), is this not enough for you? Or do you need more strength than the omnipotence of God’s Holy Trinity? Do you want more wisdom than exists in the mind of the Father, more love than the Son displays, or more power than is manifested in the work of the Holy Spirit?

Bring the Lord your empty pitcher! Surely His well will fill it. Quickly gather your emptiness, your wants, your troubles, and your needs together. Remember—the river of God is your source of supply. What could you possibly desire that it cannot provide? Go forth, dear soul—in His might—knowing the eternal God is your helper!

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you” (Isa. 41:10).

So often our god is too small. But this is not the infinite, all-powerful God of the Bible!

The God of the Bible is a gracious, giving, loving Father, “and we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” (Rom. 8:28).

“If we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ” (Rom. 8:17). The Lord calls us His child, not simply because of His love for us, but because there is one thing children do legally—they inherit! We share in Christ’s inheritance as a member of His family. Remember His words? “Whoever does God’s will is my brother and sister and mother” (Mark 3:35).

With an air of incredulity of believing otherwise, Paul declares: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Rom. 8:32).

Indeed, how will He not!
