The Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world.

1 John 4:14

It is a precious thought to think that Jesus Christ did not appear without His Father’s permission, authority, consent, and assistance. He was sent by the Father to be the Savior of mankind, but we are much too prone to forget that fact. And while there are distinctions between the Persons of the Trinity, there are no distinctions as to the honor each deserves.

All too often we ascribe honor for our salvation more to Jesus Christ than we do to the Father, at least in terms of the depth of the gift itself. This is a serious mistake, for if Jesus came, didn’t the Father send Him? If He spoke wonderful words, didn’t the Father pour grace into His mouth so He would be a competent minister of the new covenant?

Someone who truly knows the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as they should be known will never set one before the other when it comes to love. Instead he sees them at Bethlehem, Gethsemane, and Calvary, with each equally involved in the work of salvation.

Dear Christian, have you put your confidence in the Man Jesus Christ, solely relying upon Him? Are you united with Him? If so, then you should also know and believe you are united with the God of heaven. Since the Man Jesus Christ is your brother, with whom you share the most intimate of fellowship, you are thereby joined to God the eternal—“the Ancient of Days” (Dan. 7:9)—who is your Father and your friend.

Did you ever consider the depth of love in the heart of Jehovah when God the Father equipped His Son for His supreme mission of mercy? If not, let this thought be your meditation today: “The Father has sent his Son”!

Contemplate this. Think how Jesus works out the will of the Father. Consider the love of the great “I AM” (EX. 3:14) in the wounds of the dying Savior. May your every thought of Jesus be forever connected with the eternal ever-blessed God, for “it was the LORD’S will to crush him and cause him to suffer” (Isa. 53:10).

Indeed, we see the work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit throughout God’s plan of redemption. The following verses are just a sampling of this truth:

We ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies.

Colossians 1:12-14

Father, thank You for sending Your Son to die and for raising Him to life again through the power of Your Holy Spirit that I may enter Your eternal “kingdom of light.” And may I be an agent of Your light to the dark world in which we live that others may enter Your kingdom as well.
