John 15:5

John 15:5

Yes, I am the vine; you are the branches. Those who remain in me, and I in them, will produce much fruit. For apart from me you can do nothing.

This verse paints yet another beautiful picture of the Christian life. Without a connection to the main trunk, a vine’s branches cannot sustain themselves. They will become lifeless. It’s the same for us in our relationship with Christ: To produce spiritual fruit—to grow in character and become more like Christ—we must be connected to him. Just as the vine nourishes the branch, our faith is nourished through life-giving fellowship with God. We cannot grow when we live apart from Christ. What is one specific way you can remain connected to him as you go about your day?
