Proverbs 14:9

Proverbs 14:9

Fools make fun of guilt, but the godly acknowledge it and seek reconciliation.

Have you ever felt the uncomfortable twinge of conviction? Guilt can be either a burden or a gift. When we refuse to acknowledge guilt, our relationship with God is hindered. But admitting it helps us recognize that sin in our hearts causes damage to our souls and relationships. Only when we recognize our shortcomings can we work to defeat them and restore the damage done, making us right again with God and others. How do you respond when you feel guilt? Do you foolishly laugh it off, or do you explore it to determine whether it’s pointing to something you need to deal with? Then do you acknowledge your sin before God and ask for his forgiveness? Choose to view your guilt as a gift that will lead you toward reconciliation.
