Christening - Prayers for Every Occasion

FATHER GOD, one of our friend’s children will be baptized today in the tradition of her family’s church. This is a significant and joyful time, as parents and friends commit themselves to bringing up this child to know you and love you. Please bless her parents, who have hopes and dreams for this newest member of their family. No one but you, Lord, knows the course of this child’s life, so we entrust her to your unending love, care, and mercy.

May the seed of your Word take root in her heart, growing in fertile soil that is watered by Christ-followers around her. May older believers train her well in the ways of God and embed your Word in her heart. As you weave the events and circumstances of her life together, may it be a tapestry of beauty and grace.

May we remain engaged with this child’s family, faithfully supporting, encouraging, and contributing good things to this dear one who is loved by you and all of us. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, amen.
