When There’s Not Enough - Prayers for Every Occasion

When There’s Not Enough

JESUS OF THE LOAVES AND FISH, many of us have lived through times when there wasn’t enough . . . enough food, enough money, enough energy, enough employment. And some of us are living in that situation right now.

Over two thousand years ago, a multitude of people gathered on a hill to hear you speak. When you finished, you were concerned about their physical needs. “They have nothing left to eat. I don’t want to send them away hungry.” You cared about those people, God!

When your disciples asked you where they would find enough food for the immense crowd, your response was an example we can use in our “not enough” times.

You asked your disciples how much bread they had. You thanked your Father for it. You trusted him to multiply it. You asked your disciples to share it. And you urged them to remember the wonder of what they witnessed.

In our moments of not enough, Father, please help us assess what we have, thank you for it, trust you to multiply it, share it with others, and never forget the wonder of how you have provided for our needs. You surely are a loving and generous God.
