Fill Up
Fill Up
Let the message about Christ, in all its richness, fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with all the wisdom he gives. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.
Colossians 3:16
What do you fill your life with? Some people fill their lives with sports. They watch the games, memorize the statistics, follow the players’ careers, and even collect sports trading cards. Others fill their lives with a certain kind of music. They listen to it, talk about the performers, memorize lyrics, and buy the newest CDs. There are many things people fill their lives with—after-school clubs, friends, music lessons, sports teams, and even schoolwork.
God wants you to fill your life with his Word. The message of Jesus as Savior for the world should be on your mind. It should fill your thoughts and affect your actions. How can you fill your life with the message of Jesus? By taking time each day to read God’s Word. The whole Bible points to Jesus. After Adam and Eve sinned, God promised to send a Redeemer. People looked forward to a coming Savior. The Gospels (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) tell the story of Jesus’ life on earth, his death, and his resurrection. The book of Acts tells of Jesus’ return to heaven and the beginning of his church on the earth. The Epistles (Romans through Jude) give information about how to live as a Christian. The book of Revelation tells about the things that lead up to Jesus’ return to the earth, about heaven, and about the final battle between Jesus and Satan.
