Goal For The New Year: Stand Strong

Goal for the New Year: Stand Strong

Q: How does 1 Corinthians say you should work for the Lord?

  • a. carefully
  • b. prayerfully
  • c. enthusiastically

God created you with a plan in mind. He’s given you the personality and talent to do the special job he’s chosen for you. There are some things God has planned for when you’re an adult, but there are other things to do right now. There may be someone only you can reach for Jesus because of a shared hobby or experience. Or there may be a student or teacher who needs the encouragement or help only you can give. There might be someone who struggles in an area you are strong in. God may plan for you to be the one to coach him or her in this weak area.

God might use your love for baseball, chess, Spanish, or math to reach others. The important thing is that whatever you do, you do it enthusiastically for the Lord and don’t give up. For instance, you might sign up to tutor a student who has never learned to read. It may be fun at first, but then as time passes the task becomes more difficult because of the commitment it takes. It’s tempting to quit and do something else instead. But you might be the best person not only to teach that student to read but also to help him or her to find a relationship with the Lord.

You have a new year in front of you to learn more about the Bible, grow closer to God, and reach out to others. Eagerly grasp the opportunities God places in your path.

For You

Ask God to show you what he wants you to accomplish in the new year. Take one day at a time and listen for him to speak to your heart.

Answer: c

So, my dear brothers and sisters, be strong and immovable. Always work enthusiastically for the Lord, for you know that nothing you do for the Lord is ever useless.   1 Corinthians 15:58
