Come, Let Us Rise with Christ
Come, let us rise with Christ our Head
And seek the things above,
By the almighty Spirit led
And filled with faith and love;
Our hearts detached from all below
Should after Him ascend,
And only wish the joy to know
Of our triumphant friend.
Enthroned at God’s right hand He sits,
Maintainer of our cause,
Till every vanquished foe submits
To His victorious cross;
Worthy to be exalted thus,
The Lamb for sinners slain,
The Lord our King, who reigns for us,

To Him our willing hearts we give
Who gives us power and peace,
And dead to sin, His members live

The hidden life of Christ is ours
With Christ concealed above,

We banquet on His love.
THIS HYMN was based on Colossians 3:1: “Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand.” One year at a Christian college this verse was posted on bulletin boards throughout the campus. On one board in the student center, known for its graffiti, one sophomoric student had scrawled under the verse, “Too Platonic.”
For all its disrespect, the comment had a shred of sense. Plato was the Greek philosopher who separated the physical from the mental, the life of our mundane world from the glorious ideals of the mind. Generations of followers tweaked this idea into an otherworldly attitude that considered the physical world (including human bodies) either insignificant or evil. We must never forget, though, that God loved this world so much He sent Jesus to die for it.
You died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.
