Praise for the God Who Is Near
The LORD is close to all who call on him,
yes, to all who call on him in truth.
He grants the desires of those who fear him;
he hears their cries for help and rescues them.
The LORD protects all those who love him,
but he destroys the wicked.
I will praise the LORD,
and may everyone on earth bless his holy name
forever and ever.
Psalm 145:18-21
Does God ever seem far away? In this prayer, David reminded himself that God is close to all who call on him in truth. He went on to praise the Lord for consistently answering the prayers of his people and fulfilling the desires of those who fear God.
Sometimes, like David, we may need to remind ourselves of God’s great kindness, of his history of granting the desires of those who fear him. If we reflect on how God has heard the cries of his people and rescued them, we will be more likely to call on God in faith. Although we may have our doubts sometimes, it is indeed true that God watches over all those who love him.
