Confession
Confession
When should we confess our sins?
God’s Response
When any of the people become aware of their guilt in any of these ways, they must confess their sin. Leviticus 5:5
I will go home to my father and say, “Father, I have sinned against both heaven and you.” Luke 15:18
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and wonderful results. James 5:16
God often uses the feeling of guilt in your conscience to help you know that it is time to apologize or confess to wrongdoing. Sinning shamelessly, without a sense of guilt, is an abnormal act of shutting God out. If you have no desire to have your sins forgiven, God will not forgive them. Ask God to reveal actions and thoughts that you aren’t even aware of that displease him. Do you feel guilty about something you have said or done to hurt another person? Then now is the time to apologize and seek forgiveness. Confession indicates your desire to have your sins forgiven. What results from your confession? God removes your guilt, restores your joy and willing obedience, and heals your broken soul.
God’s Promise
People who cover over their sins will not prosper. But if they confess and forsake them, they will receive mercy. Proverbs 28:13
