What should I do when I feel that God is far away?

God’s Response

O LORD, why do you stand so far away? Why do you hide when I need you the most? . . . LORD, you know the hopes of the helpless. Surely you will listen to their cries and comfort them. Psalm 10:1, 17

I can never escape from your spirit! I can never get away from your presence! Psalm 139:7

When God seems far away, it is often because you have moved away, not God. The good news is that just like the father in the parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32), God is eagerly awaiting your return. You can follow David’s example in the Psalms and draw close to God in prayer.

God’s Promise

I will make an everlasting covenant with them, promising not to stop doing good for them. I will put a desire in their hearts to worship me, and they will never leave me. Jeremiah 32:40
