Goals

Goals

How should I pursue my goals?

God’s Response

I am focusing all my energies on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I strain to reach the end of the race and receive the prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us up to heaven. Philippians 3:13-14

If your aim is to enjoy this world, you can’t be a friend of God. James 4:4

Our aim is to please him always. 2 Corinthians 5:9

Goals set the agenda for your day, your week, your year, and your life. Goals also set the direction in which you move. Therefore, it’s important to have the right goals so your life will go in the right direction. As you determine your goals for this coming year, make them more than just urgent tasks to check off of a “to do” list. Make them assignments with a purpose. Do your goals align you with God’s Word or contradict it? Are your goals in keeping with your special abilities and spiritual gifts? Are your goals, even the small ones, honoring God? If so, you are headed in the right direction and your accomplishments will be meaningful.

God’s Challenge

Since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily hinders our progress. And let us run with endurance the race that God has set before us. Hebrews 12:1
