What’s the best way to serve God?

God’s Response

Your attitude should be the same that Christ Jesus had. Though he was God, he did not demand and cling to his rights as God. He made himself nothing; he took the humble position of a slave and appeared in human form. And in human form he obediently humbled himself even further by dying a criminal’s death on a cross. Philippians 2:5-8

Humility is the pathway to service. True humility results from understanding who you are and who God is. Humility allows you to serve wherever God places you and to do whatever God asks of you. A patient who regains health through a physician’s care is more humble because he realizes his vulnerability. We are humbled when we realize how God heals our souls and provides all that we need. When we realize our dependence on him, we’re happy to serve our Lord in any way he asks of us.

God’s Challenge

So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and in his good time he will honor you. 1 Peter 5:6
