Empowerment

I want to live as God’s representative. How does he help me to obey him?

God’s Response

You must be even more careful to put into action God’s saving work in your lives, obeying God with deep reverence and fear. For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey him and the power to do what pleases him. Philippians 2:12-13

If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. John 14:15-16

God empowers us for the things that he requires of us. You can obey him because he gives you his Holy Spirit to help you. Even as the air you breathe empowers your body to function, so the Holy Spirit empowers your spirit to obey. God’s Word releases you from bondage to sin so that you are free to obey him.

God’s Promise

If you keep looking steadily into God’s perfect law —the law that sets you free —and if you do what it says and don’t forget what you heard, then God will bless you for doing it. James 1:25
