Overwhelmed

Overwhelmed

I’m feeling completely overwhelmed. How will God help me?

God’s Response

I cry out to the LORD; I plead for the LORD’s mercy. I pour out my complaints before him and tell him all my troubles. For I am overwhelmed, and you alone know the way I should turn. Psalm 142:1-3

Death had its hands around my throat; the terrors of the grave overtook me. I saw only trouble and sorrow. Then I called on the name of the LORD: “Please, LORD, save me!” Psalm 116:3-4

Asa cried out to the LORD his God, “O LORD, no one but you can help the powerless against the mighty! Help us, O LORD our God, for we trust in you alone.” 2 Chronicles 14:11

We sometimes face overwhelming obstacles or opposition and feel outnumbered and helpless. God strengthens our confidence by reminding us that he has delivered his people in the past from their enemies and that he can deliver you from your troubles. True courage comes from knowing that God is stronger than your worst problem and that he wants to use his strength to help you. God promises to be with you, and his power is available to you when you are doing what pleases him.

God’s Promise

The Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says, “Only in returning to me and waiting for me will you be saved. In quietness and confidence is your strength.” Isaiah 30:15
