What does the Cross mean for my life today?

God’s Response

He gave his life to free us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to make us his very own people, totally committed to doing what is right. Titus 2:14

If any of you wants to be my follower . . . you must put aside your selfish ambition, shoulder your cross, and follow me. If you try to keep your life for yourself, you will lose it. But if you give up your life for my sake and for the sake of the Good News, you will find true life. Mark 8:34-35

If there were no consequences for driving through red lights, breaking into people’s homes, or killing people, anarchy would reign. The things people value most —such as peace, order, and security — would be gone. Sin is breaking the laws that the Creator of the universe set up to maintain peace, order, and security in our world. Breaking God’s laws brings God’s punishment just as breaking government laws brings legal punishment. The good news is that when Jesus died on the cross, he took the punishment for sin that we deserved.

God’s Promise

Those who belong to Christ Jesus have nailed the passions and desires of their sinful nature to his cross and crucified them there. Galatians 5:24
