God Never Fails - The One Year Praying the Promises of God
God Never Fails
God has said,
Hebrews 13:5-6
A woman who survived the 1995 bombing of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City struggled terribly at the memorial services. She was still dealing with physical and emotional trauma herself and was in constant pain. Seated in a wheelchair, she wrestled with God about why he hadn’t rescued her dear friends and coworkers, who were dedicated Christians.
Then she recalled how God’s presence had been so real to her when she had fallen nine stories and was buried under concrete. When the rescuer held her hand until they could get her out, it was like Jesus’ hand. His Spirit spoke through her thoughts, reminding her to breathe slowly and keep calm so she could get oxygen in the small space. Wherever she was, Jesus was with her.
In the hospital and through the comfort of friends and strangers, Jesus’ presence surrounded her. She knew God was with her friends who died. She also knew that when it’s time for her to join those precious friends, she won’t fear, for Jesus will be with her. This knowledge and continuing experience of God’s presence sustained her during months of pain and grieving, bringing her into more freedom than she had ever known before.
From the time we surrender our lives to God, his care for us is secure. He does not break his promise that he’ll be with us and never abandon us. He will never forsake us or relax his hold on us. What a Savior!
Thank you, Lord our God, that you promise us to be with us, to help us, and never to fail or forsake us! We can take refuge in you and count on your goodness and mercy all the days of our lives. With all my heart I praise you!
Dear Lord, never let me be afraid to pray for the impossible.
