We Have An Advocate - The One Year Sweet and Simple Moments with God Devotional

My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.

1 John 2:1

Don’t you love it when someone stands up for you and watches your back? We are so appreciative of the people God puts in our lives who go the extra mile to defend and encourage us—people who really step up for us in difficult situations.

There is no escaping trouble in this wounded world. Even for those who have walked wholeheartedly with the Lord for many years, sin is not a stranger. The fact that everyone in Christ has an advocate—Jesus Christ Himself, the One who is truly righteous—is worth celebrating today and every day. His presence provides a sweet place of grace where we can go when we sin.

God sees our case through the cross of Christ. We no longer face a prosecutor because the defense team of Jesus has won every case of the accused who have chosen Him by faith. It’s the only way to stand before our righteous Judge—God Almighty! But sometimes we forget our Advocate.

All of us have a go-between, Someone who literally steps in and always goes to bat for us. His name is Jesus. He is the go-between who reconciles a holy God and our sinful selves. He makes the way for us to have a personal relationship with God.

Our personal Advocate—our way to God—is always interceding on our behalf. No perfect person on earth can do this for us—only Jesus!

Take heart. You have a personal Advocate who is always right and always pulling for you. Praise Him for personally handling the accusations against you for sin. And when that grace gavel is pounded on God’s desk of mercy, He will proclaim, “Not guilty!”
