Crown Of Beauty

Whoever thinks that the godly life of wisdom is a life of sparseness or drabness or poorness is absolutely dead wrong. God is the King of the entire universe. He alone made the diamonds from coal. He alone created gold and snowflakes, waterfalls and sunsets. God loves to make things that have beauty and nobility. And we, as daughters of God, are actually princesses. Romans tells us that we are heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ; so keep this in mind as we read this lovely description in today’s Wisdom for Women.

“Getting wisdom is the most important thing you can do!And whatever else you do, get good judgment.If you prize wisdom, she will exalt you.Embrace her and she will honor you.She will place a lovely wreath on your head;she will present you with a beautiful crown.”My child, listen to me and do as I say,and you will have a long, good life.

Proverbs 4:7-10

Crowns. Wisdom will present you with a beautiful crown. Crowns are both valuable and weighty. In the Kremlin in Moscow the actual crowns worn by past rulers are displayed. Some are large, heavily encrusted with jewels. The person wearing it would always be aware that they had it on and aware of all that it meant. With a crown came great responsibility. When Queen Esther put on her royal robes and crown it was not just to rule, it was to serve.

And so, dear sisters, may we wear God’s wisdom as a crown, a crown of nobility and honor and beauty.

Make It Personal . . . Live It Out!

We women wear many hats: daughter, friend, cook, shopper, organizer, sister, counselor, homemaker, teacher, wife, mother. The question is, do you do what you do with honor? Embrace wisdom! I know—you might be thinking, I can’t! I fail. Okay, I agree; none of us can, in our own strength.

Lord, here I am again, like an empty cup held up to you. Please fill me with your wisdom that I may live with honor and beauty.
