A NEW “HERE”

The LORD makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him.

Psalm 37:23

We all want to get from “here” to “there”—wherever “there” is for us. For some of us, it’s a promotion we’ve worked toward, completing our degree, getting married, or moving through a struggle. And when we do, it’s a celebration!

I love it when I realize I’m standing in a “here” place that used to be a “there” place. As I reflect on all the steps I took—being obedient, faithful, staying my course through all the hard times—I realize how my heart and endurance are what got me “here.” Not a gift or talent. I am always so grateful for all God has done to get me “here.”

Psalm 37:23 promises us that the steps of a righteous woman are ordered and established by the Lord. What a promise!

Every step you take today to move you from “here” to “there” is ordered of the Lord. Rest in this assurance, resist the temptation to obsess about where you will end up someday, and trust God by being faithful where you are now. Before you know it, you’ll be celebrating a new “here”!

Lord, thank You for bringing me from where I was to where I am. Teach me to be faithful and trust that You are ordering my steps.
